Position Overview

You architect the backend that powers India’s fastest-growing online nursing platform. You own system design, performance, and reliability as the product scales from tens of thousands to millions of learners. You collaborate directly with the founders, lead junior engineers, and shape the technical roadmap.

Role & Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain a scalable backend for the web and mobile apps using NodeJS and NestJS.
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of backend services, covering development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimisation for performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate with founders and product managers to prioritise and deliver new features such as real-time quizzing, analytics dashboards, and payment integrations.
• Translate product vision into a clear technical roadmap and participate in key architecture discussions.
• Manage infrastructure, databases, APIs, and cloud services while setting up monitoring and alerting to ensure high availability and reliability.

Must have Criteria

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience building and scaling consumer-facing products (EdTech or other high-traffic domains preferred).
• Expertise in NodeJS, NestJS, and TypeScript.
• Proven ability to design microservices and RESTful APIs using SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring engineers with constructive code reviews.
• Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in logging, monitoring, and performance tuning using tools such as Datadog or New Relic.
• Startup mindset—resourceful, proactive, and comfortable building from scratch.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent real-world experience evidenced by a solid GitHub profile.
