Position Overview

You join the founding team to build cutting-edge document AI systems that transform how accounting firms process financial documents. You work directly with founders to shape the AI-first product vision. You architect systems that will process millions of financial documents while defining both technical standards and company culture as a founding engineer.

Role & Responsibilities

• Design and implement document AI systems using computer vision and NLP techniques
• Fine-tune vision-language models for financial document understanding and data extraction
• Develop and optimize OCR pipelines and visual transformer architectures
• Create precise prompts and instructions for VLMs and LLMs to handle complex financial tasks
• Build and maintain ML model training pipelines from experimentation to production deployment
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into the platform
• Prototype and iterate on new AI features in fast-paced startup environment

Must Have Criteria

• 4-8 years of ML engineering experience with prior experience in document processing using AI
• Strong computer vision expertise for financial document analysis and understanding
• Deep learning expertise with both PyTorch and TensorFlow for model development and training
• Hands-on experience with OCR systems and document processing technologies
• Proven experience with Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Experience working with financial documents (invoices, receipts, bank statements, tax statements)
• Experience crafting precise prompts for VLMs and LLMs with measurable task outcomes

Nice to Have

• Background in fintech, accounting software, or B2B finance domain workflows
• Experience with AWS services beyond Textract (Lambda, S3, SQS) for document processing pipelines
• Contributions to open-source ML/AI projects or document processing libraries
