Role: Embedded Systems Engineer
Function: Engineering – Firmware / Embedded Systems
Location: Bangalore, Karnataka (On-site)
Type: Full-time
Industry: SpaceTech, Aerospace, Hardware
About Company
The client is a well-capitalised, venture-backed space-technology startup that supplies low-cost, reliable satellite components for low-Earth-orbit missions. The mission is clear: democratise space by giving organisations affordable access to high-quality hardware. You join a passionate, collaborative team that values rapid learning, hands-on ownership, and measurable impact at every career stage. Backed by leading investors, the company offers room to grow while tackling some of the toughest engineering challenges in NewSpace.
Position Overview
You design and ship the firmware that powers next-generation satellite components used in low-Earth-orbit. You take end-to-end ownership—from prototype to flight launch—within aggressive timelines, gaining direct exposure to mission-critical hardware and seasoned space engineers.
Role & Responsibilities
- Own development, validation, and launch of core products within assigned areas such as ADCS components, acting as the single point of contact for firmware delivery.
- Write production-quality firmware for processors and microcontrollers including STM32, ARM, and RISC-V.
- Test firmware and electrical systems to confirm design requirements.
- Develop test systems that run on virtualised hardware and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
- Build robust, reliable software in roughly one-third the time most reasonable people expect.
- Create prototypes that prove design concepts and quantify technical constraints.
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
- Write test plans, design documentation, product manuals, and supplier documents.
- Invent tools that speed up software deployment, test execution, and data analysis.
- Work on-site in Bangalore and commit to extended hours or weekends when mission schedules demand.
Must have Criteria
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Minimum 2 years’ industry experience with production hardware design.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Deep embedded-systems fundamentals: resource-efficient design, low-level drivers, bit manipulation, interrupt handling, RTOS frameworks, I/O, and communication buses.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new skills, languages, and tools quickly.
- Comfort working with minimal guidance in fast-changing, hands-on environments.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of motor control, PID control, field-oriented control (FOC), and PWM.
- Familiarity with digital signal processing, digital image processing, and control theory.
- Experience building firmware for satellites.
What We Offer
- Rewarding, fast-paced environment where you learn daily and see direct impact.
- Collaborative, diverse team of problem-solvers focused on making space affordable.
