Role: Electrical Engineer
Function: Hardware / Electrical Engineering
Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India (On-site)
Type: Full-time
Industry: Aerospace, Space Technology, Hardware
About Company
The client is a well-capitalised, venture-backed space-technology startup that supplies low-cost, reliable satellite components for low-Earth-orbit missions. The company’s mission is to democratize space by making high-quality products easy to access. You join a collaborative, diverse team that values learning, ownership, and tangible impact at every career stage. Strong funding and a rapidly growing market let you shape products that lower the barrier to space for innovators worldwide.
Position Overview
You design, develop, and validate complex analogue, mixed-signal, and digital circuits that power next-generation space systems. You own new product development from concept through production, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability while supporting manufacturing and customer needs. Your power-electronics expertise and "no task too small" mindset drive innovation that brings affordable space hardware to life.
Role & Responsibilities
- Own schematic and PCB design, including component selection, stack-up definition, routing, and fabrication
- Simulate circuit performance, review existing designs, and optimise for space applications and aerospace safety standards
- Conduct board bring-up, system validation, and troubleshooting for prototypes and production units
- Develop and execute test protocols that confirm safety, reliability, and performance targets
- Write clear technical documentation such as project logs, test reports, and design evaluations
- Oversee prototype manufacturing and lead iterative design improvements
- Establish and document manufacturing processes for in-house production and external suppliers
- Identify and evaluate potential manufacturing partners, negotiating technical requirements
- Train engineers and technicians on best practices for electrical manufacturing
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to achieve seamless system integration
- Serve as technical liaison to vendors and manufacturing partners
- Provide hands-on technical support during field deployments and customer operations
Must have Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 4+ years of experience designing circuits, electronic products, or hardware
- Proven background in power electronics
- Expertise in circuit board design, schematic capture, and PCB layout tools (KiCad preferred)
- Proficiency in mixed-signal design, including processors, FPGAs, DRAM (DDR4), high-speed SerDes, ADC/DAC, and power supplies
- Hands-on experience testing, troubleshooting, and debugging electronics, including fine-pitch soldering (BGA, etc.)
- Ability to simulate circuits and apply aerospace or industrial electrical safety standards
- Strong grasp of programming languages such as Python and C/C++ for automation and testing
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as required
- Ability to work on-site in Bangalore, India
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years leading full life-cycle development of new hardware products
- Experience with motor and inverter design, power-supply development, and image-processor integration
- Knowledge of STM32 and other ARM processor architectures
- 2+ years of space-industry experience and familiarity with radiation-tolerant design practices
