Position Overview

You are one of the first engineers building production-grade document AI and workflow automation systems that will transform how accounting firms handle complex financial workflows. You'll design end-to-end features from OCR pipelines to intelligent document processing. You work directly with founders to architect the platform and establish technical foundations. This founding engineer role offers direct influence over product roadmap and technical architecture decisions.

Role & Responsibilities

• Build and optimize production OCR and document processing pipelines for financial documents using AWS Textract or Google Document AI
• Implement intelligent table extraction, key-value pair extraction, and document classification systems using ML models and LLMs
• Design automated document workflows with approval chains, retry mechanisms, and error handling using workflow orchestration tools
• Integrate LLMs into backend systems for intelligent document routing, validation, and business rule decisioning
• Develop full-stack applications using Python/Django backend and React frontend for document management interfaces
• Build and optimize relational database schemas for high-volume document processing and financial data storage
• Collaborate directly with founders to define technical architecture and establish engineering best practices

Must Have Criteria

• 1-5 years of experience building production systems with Python and Django framework
• Hands-on experience building OCR and document processing pipelines using AWS Textract, Tesseract, or Google Document AI or similar
• Proven experience implementing table/key-value extraction and document classification using ML models or LLMs
• Experience designing real-world document workflows with approvals and error handling using Airflow, Camunda, or similar tools
• Strong experience integrating LLMs into backend systems for automated decisioning and intelligent routing
• Proficiency with React for building document management and workflow interfaces
• Education from top-tier universities (IIT, NIT, BITS, or equivalent)

Nice to Have

• Experience with financial document processing (invoices, receipts, bank statements, tax forms)
• Background in fintech, accounting software, or B2B finance domain workflows
• Experience with AWS services beyond Textract (Lambda, S3, SQS) for document processing pipelines
• Contributions to open-source ML/AI projects or document processing libraries
